Spelling

Fourth Graders- Unit 11 core words they will be learning are; matter, stand, box, starts, and that’s. The skill the students will be working on is contractions. A contraction is a combination of two or more words with an apostrophe replacing a letter or letters.

Third Graders- Unit 11 core words they will be learning are; need, far, hand, high, and year. The skill the students will be learning is some words have silent letters.

Reading

4th Graders will be reading Number the Stars.

3rd Graders will continue reading Sarah Plain and Tall.

-We also are reading short stories. This week the students will the reading the tall tale Johnny Appleseed Gets His Name. The students are learning about story plots (background, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution).

*Each month students should read two chapter books at home. They then write a one page summary or do a verbal summary to Miss. Libert at school.

Math-

4th Graders will be working on Unit 8- Perimeter and Area

Monday:  Review Chapter 7

Tuesday:   Chapter 7 Test

Wednesday:  8.1 Perimeter

Thursday:  8.2 Scale Drawings

Friday:   No School

 

3rd Graders will be working on Unit 8- Fractions

Monday:  8.5 Equivalent Fractions

Tuesday:   8.6 Comparing Fractions

Wednesday:  8.7 Fractions Greater than ONE

Thursday:  8.7 Continued

Social Studies

Monday-Wednesday: Students will be reading week 12 of North Dakota Studies Weekly. It focuses on Lewis & Clark (Corps of Discovery, Exploring the Louisiana Purchase, The Metis, Pemmican, Sacagawea, and Pembina).

*For Social Studies and Science, we will rotate them per quarter, so we can focus on one subjects material at a time (instead of dividing the time between the two each day).
