Spelling
Fourth Graders- Unit 12 core words they will be learning are; class, piece, surface, river, and common. The skills they will be working are prefixes and suffixes. A prefix is a letter or letters added to the beginning of a word. A suffix is a letter or letters added to the end of a word.
Third Graders- Unit 12 core words they will be learning are; mother, light, country, father, and let. The skill they will be working on is compound words. A compound word is a combination of two or more words.
Reading
4th Graders will be reading Number the Stars.
3rd Graders will continue reading Sarah Plain and Tall.
-We also are reading short stories. This week the students will the reading the tall tale Glooscap Makes the Seasons. The students are learning about story plots (background, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution).
*Each month students should read two chapter books at home. They then write a one page summary or do a verbal summary to Miss. Libert at school.

Social Studies
Monday-Wednesday: Students will be reading week 13 of North Dakota Studies Weekly. This unit focuses on Fur Trade, Early Settlement of Dakota Territory, Homestead Act of 1862, Fort Union, Small Pox, Rising Tension leading to the Arikara War and Dakota War.
*For Social Studies and Science, we will rotate them per quarter, so we can focus on one subjects material at a time (instead of dividing the time between the two each day).
